One primary source i chose is the cover of the book fast food nation. One reason I chose this is it was a book we read in high school and i found it very interesting. The cover is pretty simplistic in nature. Which is the opposite of what i thought since it is about showing how corrupt fast food is. The cover also looks nice and happy, which is the way fast food presents its self.
For my other primary source i chose the song grapefruit diet by weird al I
I chose this song because of the lyrics. The song is pretty recent and talks about how a guy is
fat and now has to go on a diet consisting of grapefruits. weird al is making fun of the band wagon of all the diets that america was going on in the last few years. I really like these 2 sources and hope everyone finds them justas enjoyable as i have.
Both of these choices could work well for the PSA. I think the book cover might be a little TOO simplistic to be able to write a two-page paper on, but it could be done. The song by Weird-Al is very humorous and has a very clear relevant point to make about the dieting plans that are constantly advertised in our society, and would work really well.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the book cover might cause some trouble for writing your paper, so I would use the video clip. The clip is funny and would allow you to use multiple points about food and dieting.
ReplyDeleteLooking at your two sources as they stand, I also prefer the Weird Al song. I think it's fun, I think it gives you enough material to analyse in two pages, and I think it'll allow you to address the larger issue of fad dieting that is very relevant to our society at the moment.
ReplyDeleteFast Food Nation is a great book, but I'm not sure that the cover by itself would give you very much to discuss. If you were to include the back cover and analyze it as well, you would have enough material, so that is an option to consider.
